The aim of Neighbourhood Watch is to bring neighbours together to create strong, friendly, active communities where crime and anti-social behaviour are less likely to happen.

The vision is that of a caring society that is focused on trust and respect in which people are safe from crime and enjoy a good quality of life. Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) is about making sure that no one has to feel afraid, vulnerable or isolated in the place where they live.
Maulden has an active Neighbourhood Watch scheme with an Area Coordinator, 3 Deputies and numerous street/local group Coordinators. They are approved by and liaise closely with Bedfordshire Police, and are part of the national Neighbourhood Watch network.

The group regularly passes on information to registered members – for example about recent incidents in the area or advice to improve your home, vehicle or personal security – via emails or circulars.

However, there is not 100% coverage of roads throughout the village and we are keen to expand our membership – for the benefit of the whole community.

New Members receive a ‘Members Pack’ on joining (including window stickers, UV property marker pen and a range of advisory leaflets). There is no charge to be a member and no commitment to attend any meetings – although we do occasionally hold informal meetings to bring everyone up to date and share any concerns.

All we ask is that you keep a watchful eye and ear open for any ‘unusual’ activity, to protect yourself, your neighbours and others in your vicinity.

If you would like to join your local NHW group or get one started in your area, then please  contact the Maulden Area Co-ordinator on .
